A great new artist.

Construction gets slow during the holidays, so I have had time to pursue other interests, one of which is art. Recently while in Sweden at the International Plywood conference- I discovered a new Artist. This particular artist has created his own new school - it's called w.a.c. whimsical and creative art. I purchased this painting called "God Morgon" for a reasonable price. What do you the people of the world think about it?

Custom bathrooms.

Hey all you blogo-viches what's a clacka-lackan? Today I'm strictly "hip-hip" in the Gehtto-fied venacular- I'z simply spectacular! I just finished this fresh-ass remodel down by the seaside and what not. Oh it's all that and a bag of chips... dogs and dogettes, I mean it's fo shizzle izzle dizzle! The funny thing was as soon as it was final painted the designer said hey i don't like the color. That made my so mother clucken made, I'z about to "shake the baby", then I'z like cool down brother man.... it's all good- we'll just change the color, and ha! dat's what weed did. Now that crib is lookin fatt-ass sweet! Peace-out!

Monday morning.

Monday mornings are stupid. I mean just when you need the least stress you have the most- the start of a new work week, kid's going to school after a fun weekend. (they are always moody.) Metermaids seem to be a little more zealous in their ticketing at the start of the week, you know how it is with quota's. Mondays should be switched with Wednesday, and Friday switched with Monday. that way Tuesday and Thursday could have some breathing room and everyone would feel a lot better if the work week started on Friday. When the middle of the week came, and we are all numb and mindless from working hard to make it through the hump day then who would care that it's Monday anyways? The best part of this plan is when Wednesday comes and you realize it's not the middle of the week, but actually the begining of the weekend! Genius!

Wizard wands.

Today after work i will begin to construct a wizard-wand. Being a mystic, I know that the proper wand first must contain a natural energy, ( Good or bad) i will search for only positive energy wood, as I have no intention of dealing in the dark-arts. ( too scary!) If any person out there knows where I may obtain wood with incredibly positive energy let me know, I just might make two- one for me and one for you!

A brave new world.

Hello this is the zenbuilder coming at ya! Don't worry my message is all about positive energy. Please rest assured no animals were harmed in making this Blog. Yesterday i replaced a front door whose bottom structure was so rotted it was beyond belief. After I removed the rotted oak wood threshold I discovered a biologists dream. There was an entire ecosystem living in, under, and around the decomposing sill. This community included various types of spiders, ants, and other smaller insects that only a trained expert could positively identify. The largest creatures encountered in this slimy little settlement were a pair of worms that were at the lowest point, seemingly thriving off the waste, refuse, and multi-layered, saturated organic matter. You I was actually a little sad to have to be the one to destroy this self-sufficient, zero carbon footprint, village under the door for as it says in the Baghavad Gita- all life is precious. Peace and grace be yours in abundance.

Remodel houses

Hello everybody! Did you miss me? Well I have been busy doing some remodeling and branching out into the home services business. My new company is called "Precision Home Services" We specialize in repairs, installation, honey-do lists and the like. I am still a custom builder, but like I said before when clients are getting 10 bids on a project in order to get the absolute lowest price, I'm usually not interested. So I am waiting untill a good job comes along, one where my talents can be better utilized and appreciated. So while I wait and search, I thought I would launch a new company and capture some of the small job market. Thanks for all the support.

Uncrowded surf.

Hey party people! What's up? I'm doing a quick blog to check and make sure everthings working. My last blog May 3rd started out positive, then it seemed like I was whining-well i actually was a little bit. everyone get's frustrated- even the "Zenbuilder" Did you ever think that some day an oil well might just keep spurting up oil until all the worlds oil just shoots out of the same hole, and that's it! Thats the end of oil! Just go surfing and leave the cleanup to B.P.

scrap materials

Here is a photo of a Manjotar that i made from scrap wood found in my shop. I did have to buy the strings, but everthing else is scrap or secondhand. There was no plan for this instrument it was just free-form creativity. this is what I do to unwind after work( when I'm not playing tennis) My next project is a painting of my son. I am currently finishing the sketch part right now. Oh yeah as far as building custom homes is concerned, I now only work for people who are deserving of my talent. This new economy has taught me some valuable lessons. The most important lesson in business is the same for life in general- "Do not let anyone waste your time- it is finite."

Global warming. custom cabinets

Today was abnormally hot for March, global warming? No one knows for sure, but I can tell you one thing burning more oil than the great lakes have water- that's a lot of exhaust going into the atmosphere.... it makes one wonder. I just finished building a beautiful island cabinet out of white oak. I also built several other cabinets for the same job. I used Blum, "Tandem Plus" for the drawer slides as they are some of the finest hardware available. It seems there are lot's of small jobs out there, so I am going to take a pass on the big ones for know, as people still think they can get an incredible deal from contractors to the point of getting something fo free... almost. I'll bet there will be a lot of litigation from all the shoddy work that is being done these days for such a great price. Remember " The sweet taste of a low price leaves the mouth as soon as the bitterness of a crummy job set's in. Zenbuilder out!

Bad customers, deceitful people.

Hi! It's already March and I have been real busy, and seeing as how I am basically a one man show- I haven't blogged in over a fortnight. Now that I am back I am going to do something totally different, I'm going to share my true thoughts with the world come hell or high water! During the last year of this tough economy I have been basically used by unscrupulous people to give them itemized bids for their jobs, when they basically had no intention of hiring me ( In many cases.) - they just wanted some free financial analysis. This is similar to getting the architect to create elevations for free- before he or she is hired. Read my lips, this is not going to ever happen again! It's one thing to give a free estimate, and quite another to spends hours and hours for free. To all you people who think your clever by manipulating eager contractors to give you their time and hard work for free- why don't you have a drink of Jones- Town coolaid.... on me. like I said, the gloves are coming off now.... embrace the truth people!

Where have I been?

In late August of last year I was abducted by alien beings from another world. I was taken aboard their beautiful ship and shown things no human has ever seen! Actually I suddenly got very busy with my business, My wife and son went to abroad and I found new excuses not to blog. Oh yeah did i mention my computer crashed and i lost all my files etc. But now I'm back and I got plenty of new photos to show everyone what i have been up to. Stay tuned.
